Client Testimonials:

Skylab Studio was an unreal experience. I was truly impressed with Tommy's feedback on our tracks. He was integral in helping us crank up our final product as a result of giving his expert opinion when we were unsure on a sound or direction. The best part of the experience was the vibe of his studio - very relaxed, a no pressure setting yet with a full commitment to getting the best performance and sound out of you as possible. The contrast fit our band perfectly. I have only good things to say about our experience at Skylab Studio. We are definitely going to work with Tommy again. If you're on the fence on a recording studio, I highly recommend going here and forgetting the other spots!

-Nick Holt - Drummer, Soundzero

I was very fortunate to meet Tommy Dietrick and his Skylab Studio. I could sense that Tommy had a tremendous understanding of the importance of creating a great creative atmosphere. The first goal was to convert my files to something that was understandable, which Tommy accomplished quickly and perfectly. We recorded an album's worth of songs, tracking percussion, flute and tenor sax tracks with veteran studio musicians like Robert Kyle whose previous work includes Stevie Wonder, Linda Ronstadt, Della Reese and Kenny Loggins. Tommy integrated additional tenor sax tracks which were recorded remotely by Grammy Award winning horn arranger, Scott Martin (Poncho Sanchez, Ray Charles, James Moody, Tito Puente and many others). The combination of these musicians with Tommy created a very emotionally intelligent creative space, which was extremely pleasant and productive. Tommy handled every task in an exemplary professional manner, with an acute sensitivity to my creative vision. The entire time, Tommy was dedicated to providing the highest quality service with continuous positive attitude, and was always a source of inspiration.¯

--Bob Schutz, Songwriter

I had a uniquely positive experience recording at Skylab Studio. Tommy was very cooperative with me and allowed me to do what I needed to do according to my plans for recording. He had no ego and provided an excellent service. His mastery of his own studio allowed me to concentrate on directing the project to get the results I was looking for. I will certainly be returning to Skylab Studio with future projects.¯

--Sean "P.Loves"

"I've worked with several clients at tommy's studio, during which time I witnessed his tremendous skill and knowledge in recording and mixing . This development came not only in the area of engineering achievement and leadership, but in maturity and character as well. Tommy helped to manage our studio time, when under strict deadlines, and i recognized his strong work ethic, persistence, and intellectual integrity. He has long since become the most valuable member of my studio engineering team, and set a standard for other studio's, and engineers. I recommend Skylab Studio for any musical project with absolute confidence."

--Mike Towns, Producer

"Being a fan of Tommy's band, Sky Parade, I was thrilled when the company I work for, Emoto Music, begain working with him. Tommy has worked on many major commercial campaigns and is able to adjust to any style while still keeping his signature sound. I always look forward to working with him because I know he can handle any deadline, takes good direction and is open to new ideas. I look forward to continuing working with Tommy and I highly recommend him for any project that requires a talented producer & composer."

--Lindsay Froemke, Emoto Music

"Working with Tommy at Skylab Studio was a great experience. It was important for me when recording my first demo that the quality was up to industry standards and my expectations were far exceeded. Not only did Tommy help with the creative aspects of recording, he really understands the recording process and is able to work quickly and efficiently while still preserving the integrity of the music. I definitely made the right choice by recording with Skylab studios!"

"The Drum Teacher's FREE Advice"

posted: November 23, 2009, 08:43 AM

Replyivosplash@yahoo.com

If you are a drummer and you have a problem, issue, dilemma, etc....with your playing, technique, reading - now you can email me with your question and I will help you find the best way for you to deal with your situation for FREE. This includes odd time signatures, tuning, studio tips, click issues (on top of the beat, on the beat, behind the beat) ,stage fright, no focus, lack of creativity and anything that is stopping you from being the drummer you wanna be.
This is a FREE service and there is NO BS. It works like that:
You email me with your question-I help you out with it and we move on. You get to be a better drummer and I get you to know my name as the guy who helped you out. We both win. If you wanna study with me after that - great. If not you can feel free to contact me and ask me again should you run into another problem - this is not a one time thing.
I have done this before and it really works because sometime all we need is "that one thing" to put us back on the right track and get us rolling.

My reason for doing this is simple (just being honest): I am new to town and I wanna let the drummer community know that I can actually help and have you see and hear for yourself the difference I can make in your playing by doing what I say I will do and not just talk about it.
RESULTS are the only thing that matters and everything else is just an empty promises.
So here is your chance to get better and find out if you are realy serious about your playing.

I played and studied drums for over 35 years and was one of the top teachers at Seattle Drum School and Creative Music Adventures - the top music schools in the Northwest - with more than 350 students in the past 7 years alone and I hope that I can help you be a better drummer.

WARNING: Everything I suggest and recommend will require work on your part. So if you are looking for a magic pill, short cut, a trick that will make you better overnight, please don't waste my time and let me spend my time helping drummers who want to get better because they love what they do and understand what it takes to master their instrument.

Drummer Wanted for Celtic Punk Band

THE MIGHTY REGIS (myspace.com/themightyregis) are looking for a new drummer. We are NOT looking for someone to rent by the hour; we ARE looking for someone who wants to join the band fulltime.

We are a Celtic Punk band in the vein of Flogging Molly (George Schwindt), The Pogues (Andrew Ranken), Dropkick Murphys (Matt Kelly), Flatfoot 56 (Justin Bawinkel), etc. Influences also include The Clash, Johnny Cash, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Sex Pistols, and so on. We average a show a week, playing all over California, and just finished an east coast tour. There is no money to start, but we are working our asses off to change that. We are not a weekend dick-around band; we're working to make it.

We are looking for someone skilled, professional, and easy-going; a sense of humor wouldn't hurt. The man you're replacing set a pretty high bar, and we're not looking to step backwards.

You can download our music for free off our press kit (sonicbids.com/themightyregis). If you'd like to audition, please become familiar with as many songs as you can.

Contact daveynate@att.net for more info. Cheers.

Tony Adamo’s New Strokeland Records Release
Fred E. Harris, Los Angeles, CA

The soul funk artistry of Strokeland recording artist Tony Adamo is about to hit the radio airwaves in the form of a previous hit song written by Tower of Power (TOP) co-founders Stephen “Doc” Kupka and Emilio Castillo. TOP members, Doc Kupka, Tom Politzer and returning member Mic Gillette add their funky horns to this cover song, another funk pop hit to be.
In keepin’ his ear to the street, guitarist/producer Jerry Stucker added R&B/Soul -legend drummer, James Gadson (Bill Withers, Herbie Hancock and Quincy Jones),The funked-out organist Neil Larson (Gregg Allman, B.B. King, Whitney Houston), and the soulful playing of Reggie McBride on bass (Stevie Wonder, Al Jarreau, Keb’Mo’).
Jim Santella of L.A. JAZZ SCENE MAGAZINE digs Adamo’s strong original style and says, “He sings with the bold character of a man who knows how to entertain, recalling pop singers Tom Jones, David Clayton-Thomas and Brook Benton, as well as jazz singers Al Jarreau and Mark Murphy.” With Tony Adamo’s smooth funk vocals, the triple threat of TOP horns and the rhythm section applying pressure to the groove, this song will be the sound of the summer. Horn Driven Radio (Raoul Fernandez) will be the first U.S. radio station to break this new MP3, “This Time it’s Real.”
For more information on Adamo go to: www.myspace.com/tonyrocadamo
