Elevate Lounge is atop the 21st floor penthouse of a downtown LA skyscraper - semi-open-air - with the most amazing view overlooking the downtown city lights! The venue is very classy and super sexy and the staff are neat & suave - they blend well with the ambiance!

The crowd is a good mix of Asians, Americans, and Europeans...all great people who were very friendly and just wanted to have a good time.

This year will be another sell out. FREE sushi appetizers at 8:30 and amazing drink specials too! Costumes are highly recommended but not necessary. Last year, 99% of everybody wore costumes.

Tickets in advance are only $15.00 at Moshee Entertainment (www.moshee.net.)

Rhino hosts LA Nuggets extravaganza at The Egyptian Theater Nov 1!

posted: October 29, 2009, 07:55 PM

RHINO HOSTS L.A. NUGGETS
EXTRAVAGANZA AT THE EGYPTIAN

All-Day Event Revisits the Era Captured by the Acclaimed Where The Action Is Boxed Set with Screenings of Rare Films and Episodes of The Monkees, Plus Special Guests and Giveaways

LOS ANGELES - Rhino celebrates the breakthrough success of Where The Action Is! Los Angeles Nuggets 1965-1968with a full day of sights and sounds from the era, including screenings of rare films and episodes of The Monkees, plus live performances, a special signing session, sales of vintage merchandise and righteous Rhino giveaways.

When: Sunday, November 1
Where: The Egyptian Theater, 6712 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood
Cost: $10 for each film session; free to roam the courtyard

The day's events include:
NOON - OPENING SESSION
Monkees Matinee
See four episodes of The Monkees television series not available on DVD ("The Case Of The Missing Monkee," "Monkees Marooned," "The Chaperone" and "The Frodis Caper.") Previously unscreened theatrically, these rare 35mm prints feature soundtracks unheard since 1973. Host Andrew Sandoval, a respected authority on The Monkees, will also screen rare trailers and commercials featuring the pre-fab foursome. Following the screening, Sandoval will lead a Q&A session that features Bobby Hart, a key songwriter for the Monkees, and other surprise guests.

4:00 PM - AFTERNOON SESSION
'60s L.A. Promotional Film Potpourri
A screening of archival promotional films that feature The Mama and The Papas at the Hollywood boutique deVoss; Sonny & Cher recording at Gold Star Studios; Boyce & Hart on Hollywood Boulevard singing "Out and About"; The Turtles visiting The Plush Pup and Pandora's Box on the Sunset Strip. Domenic Priore, author of Riot on Sunset Strip: Rock 'n' Roll's Last Stand in Hollywood, will kick things off with a brief, color slide show.

A full-color pastiche of what made L.A. teens tick during the era, narrated by KHJ disc jockey Humble Harv. See the Sunset Strip and Hollywood Boulevard in their mod-prime, from Belinda boutique and Lewin's Record Shop to dancing at the Whisky a Go Go.

7:30 PM - EVENING SESSION
Riot on Sunset Strip (1967)
Described as the "garage punk Nashville" in Marshall Crenshaw's definitive rock 'n' roll movie book, Hollywood Rock, the film features The Standells, The Chocolate Watchband and The Enemys. Riot follows the exploits L.A. mods and their corporate grandfathers trying to rub out all the fun on The Strip.

The Pad, And How To Use It (1966)
Unavailable on DVD, this obscure feature (adapted from a stage play) follows a lonely bachelor looking for love at a symphonic recital who finds himself mixed up with a sexy swinger turned on by the Sunset Strip scene. The Pad features a healthy dose of Whisky a Go Go footage, when folks there still knew how to dance. The Knickerbockers (of "Lies" and "One Track Mind" fame) - the Red Velvet house band - are featured on stage. That alone makes this rarely seen Hollywood hacker flick a worthy trip for the discriminating Nuggets audience.

Between the 2-4 PM, there will be a special signing session. Merrell Fankhauser (Fapardokly), Bobby Hart (Boyce & Hart), Billy Hinsche (Dino, Desi & Billy), Van Dyke Parks, and Mark Tulin (The Electric Prunes) will all be on hand to sign copies of Where The Action Is and whatever other items fans might bring. Action producer Andrew Sandoval will also be signing copies of his book The Monkees: The Day-By-Day Story Of The '60s TV Pop Sensation along with Monkees screenwriter David Evans. Domenic Priore will also be on hand to sign copies of his book Riot on Sunset Strip: Rock 'n' Roll's Last Stand in Hollywood

Between the matinee and evening sessions, a legendary '60s D.J. will introduce performances by The Living Sickness ('60s garage punk) and go-go dancing by Moana Santana (Lucha Va Vaoom) and Brandy (Satisfaction).

The upcoming extravaganza at the Egyptian follows the success of Rhino's release party for Where The Action Is! Los Angeles Nuggets 1965-1968 at Amoeba Music. The evening featured a number of musicians included on the boxed set, who performed their songs from the collection, including folk-rock queen Jackie DeShannon ("Splendor In The Grass"), Three Dog Night founder Danny Hutton ("Roses And Rainbows") and singer-songwriter P.F. Sloan ("Halloween Mary.")

Where The Action Is! Los Angeles Nuggets 1965-1968 has received resounding acclaim, earning four stars from Mojo and Uncut as well as a 9/10 score from Spin. The new four-CD boxed set is the latest installment in Rhino's successful Nuggets series, which maps an alternative musical history of the '60s.

(Oct. 19, 2009) – The District at Tustin Legacy, Orange County’s newest shopping and entertainment destination, today announced it will be offering a Halloween event as a safe alternative for parents to enjoy with their children. Open to the public, the celebration will take place on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 3-6 p.m. throughout The District at Tustin Legacy. In addition to various festivities put on by The District, several of the center’s stores and restaurants will be hosting specials and special events.
“Our Halloween event will provide parents with an entertaining and harmless way to spend the holiday with their children,” said Kimberly Daskas, director of marketing and strategic sponsorship for The District at Tustin Legacy. “We are hosting a number of special events at some of The District at Tustin Legacy’s most popular stores and restaurants, and expect the festivities to draw families from across the county.”
Halloween Specials and Spirited Fun
The first 500 kids will receive a free trick-or-treat bag if they stop by Angelic Boutique, while supplies last, and the majority of stores will be handing out free candy. In addition, several of the bars and restaurants will be offering Halloween specials, including:
• A free “pumpkin mask” coupon at Facelogic Spa to all adults who come in with a child;

The event will also feature live music on The District Stage, located just in front of Borders Books and Music, as well as in front of AMC Tustin 14. Adding to the fun will be a balloon artist and face painter. Afterward, guests are invited to stay and watch Monsters vs. Aliens on The District at Tustin Legacy’s large video wall, also located in front of Borders Books and Music, starting at 6 p.m.
