(Nov. 24, 2009) – University of California, Irvine Extension, along with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), join together to present “The Supreme Court and the First Amendment: The Legal History of Free Speech” featuring Fran Solmor, Attorney. The First Amendment protects the rights of free speech and religion for Americans, but legal boundaries have been drawn by the Supreme Court in its implementation, which will be described in this presentation. The luncheon is open to the public and will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 9th, at 11:15 a.m. on the UCI campus at the UClub McCulloch Library. OLLI at UCI is a dynamic group of seasoned adults—both retired and semi-retired—who enjoy literature, history, science, the arts and travel. OLLI’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for mature adults by promoting intellectual growth and unique educational experiences in an environment of social interaction. The registration fee for the lunch and lecture is $11.50 for OLLI members or $13.50 for non-members.
