The Insights and Analytics organization is committed to being an early adopter of big data and cloud technology solutions. The Data Management and Governance pillar within Insights and Analytics, along with its IT partners, are responsible for developing and maintaining a platform that makes data available and accessible to North American Distribution to make data driven decisions. The team works closely with Data Scientists, Business Managers and key leaders to understand their data requirements in order to build the appropriate platform to meet or exceed those needs. You will be encouraged to think out of the box and test the latest technologies and explore limits of the technologies with respect to our evolving business needs.
:Contribute at a senior level to the data warehouse design and data preparation by providing direction to implement a robust, extensible design that supports key business flows.
Design, implement, and support an analytical platform providing ad hoc access to large datasets and computing power.
Responsible for the creation and management of datasets and translating the data into meaningful insights.
Drive the end:to:end development of solutions to complex business questions, provide strategic data decision:making and influence the adoption of cutting edge technology platforms on behalf of the business.
Document technical components and requirements for seamless data extraction and analysis on the data platform. Build data expertise and own data quality for allocated areas of ownership. Define and manage SLA for all data sets in allocated areas of ownership.
Act in a technical leadership capacity mentoring new team members, and applying technical expertise to challenging programming and design problems.
Perform in:depth statistical model evaluation and validation before production deployment.
:7+ years of prior experience in a data engineering or data science role with a technology company or financial institution. Strong knowledge of database modeling and design in a data warehousing context, as well as machine learning models with Azure ML and R.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in technical and functional designs for Databases, Data Warehousing, Reporting, and Data Mining areas.
Proven experience performing data science tasks including, data exploration, data management, data transformation, modeling and development activities, and machine learning in a cloud environment or on:premise analytic. Experience with Hadoop or other map/reduce big data systems and services.
Knowledge of advanced SQL and scripting for automation (e.g. R, Python, Perl or Ruby). Experience with Microsoft Azure technologies or competitor platform and reporting tools like Tableau, Excel or other BI packages.
