Job Description

Our Manhattan Beach hotel has it all: sun, sand and sea. Located in the upscale South Bay area, our luxury hotel sits on 26 beautifully landscaped acres just 3 miles south of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The hotel will be transforming to an Autograph Collection. Autograph Collection is comprised of upper-upscale to luxury independent, with distinctive personality, Exactly like nothing else.

The Role

* The Banquet Chef is one of the culinary leaders within a hotel, that specifically oversees banquet food service operations. This primarily includes making sure that culinary standards are met, supervising the banquet kitchen team, reaching business/financial goals, and delivering outstanding customer service. The Banquet Chef job will often include everything from the management functions of menu planning and budgeting to all hands-on aspects of working in the kitchen, preparing meals, and presenting food. A Banquet Chef will report to the executive chef, to completely oversee the banquet functions within the hotel.

* The Banquet Chef largely evolves around overseeing the performance and output of the banquet kitchen team to deliver on the executive's chef vision and goals. For food preparation, this means assisting in menu planning and recipe development, ordering quality ingredients and planning how dishes are to be presented. The Banquet Chef will be a hands-on leader in the kitchen and being directly involved in preparing dishes.

* Management tasks that are part of the banquet chef job include hiring, training scheduling and managing the junior chefs, cooks and kitchen staff. Ensuring cleanliness, proper sanitation and safety are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

* A culinary degree, excellent culinary skills, strong leadership and communication skills, previous experience in managing banquets, and experience in menu planning and recipe development.

* Culinary versatility, supplier management experience, problem-solving skills, multi-tasking ability, and being able to perform well under pressure are also highly desirable in a talented banquet chef.
