Controller

Summary

The Controller is responsible for the accuracy and control of all transactions impacting the financial performance of the plant. Additionally, the Controller provides analysis and reporting of inventory, sales, cost, and operational initiatives while supporting company objectives for continuous improvement of business systems. This is a great opportunity for a team oriented individual with strong Accounting experience in a Manufacturing environment.


Responsibilities:

Manage the full cycle accounting including journal entries, G/L account reconciliations, subsidiary ledger controls, various balance sheet account, month-end close and financial reporting package;
Responsible for monthly accounting close processes, which include ensuring accurate results are delivered on-time to the headquarters. Ensure all accounts are reconciled at month end;
Provide financial analysis including variance to prior period and budget;
Conduct and review monthly sales tax returns and all sales tax external audits;
Formulate and administer financial policies procedures and internal controls ensuring conformance with US GAAP
Leadership role in re-designing and implementing changes to the monthly close process;
Continuous improvement of controls and processes;
Document and improve company business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls;
Manage internal and external annual financial audits including prepare or review of audit work-papers and audit required client report reconciliations;
Act as a business partner across the entire organization ensuring key information is available to support decision making;
Maintain and analyze company metrics, including inventory turnover and reserves and other related reserves; more specifically lead, ensure and follow up inventory turnovers.
Assure adherence of parent company asset and accounting policies;
Prepare detailed cash flow forecasts on a weekly and monthly basis;
Implement new ERP system (same as the head office) and become the super-user;
Validate that perpetual inventory reflects all inventory;
Implement cost improvement initiatives with management;
Develop multiple reports using data mining software.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience;
CPA license;
Greater than ten (10) years of relevant experience required. Manufacturing setting experience preferred;
Advanced Excel and strong experience with various ERP systems (experience implementing new accounting software and related programs is required);
Strong analyses skills;
Extensive experience with data mining software;
Strong cash management and forecasting skills;
Ability to meet established deadlines;
Demonstrated experience in process improvements;
Experience with sales and use taxes, VAT;
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English;
French is an asset;
Ability to interact with executives across functions.
