DHS Consulting, Inc., is a rapidly growing, California-based consulting firm dedicated to providing Program, Project and Construction Management services to our clients with offices in Southern, Central, and Northern California.

The Assistant Resident Engineer/ Office Engineers (ARE/OE) role is to ensure the performance of assigned work complies with the requirements of the contract plans and specifications. The ARE/OE position shall demonstrate construction contract administration experience and be capable of assisting the Construction Manager/Resident Engineer in all aspects of required field and office construction engineering work.

Job Location: The candidate can work out of our Los Angeles and/or Orange County areas.


* Ensuring the contractor complies with all contract requirements.

* Scheduling required tests and interpreting data to ensure work quality.

* Keeping complete, accurate, and concise records of the work and quantities.

* Responding to any contractor questions about plans and specifications.

* Review and inspect temporary traffic control devices

* Review and inspect Storm Water Pollution Control (SWPPP) plans and BMPs

* Interpret and review critical path method schedules.

* Process monthly pay estimates

* Write Contract change orders

* Working effectively by knowing construction methods and inspection techniques.


* A BS in Civil Engineering required with a PE license or EIT is highly desirable

* 2-3 years of experience on public and private infrastructure projects in the areas of transportation, utilities and energy, water, wastewater, buildings, schools, or hospitals is highly desirable.

* A professional license or credential consistent with the work (PE, EIT, QSD, QSP, or CCM) is highly desirable

* Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

* Must be capable of working on multiple projects including multiple disciplines and completing diverse project tasks

* Ability to read and understand construction schedules including use of scheduling software such as Primavera

* Possess solid negotiation and interpersonal skills

* Must have a valid Driver's License and a clean driving record

* Candidate must be willing to travel locally to multiple projects when necessary
