As an Area Supervisor I, you will administer the security contract and ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements. You will also act as the G4S Secure Solutions (USA) Inc. liaison with client, law enforcement agencies, customers, and employees. In addition, you will be responsible for providing management oversight and driving operational accountability through effective change management and leadership development processes.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

* Provide supervision to Site Supervisors, and security officers with no on-site supervision, on a 24-hour basis

* Oversee the staffing, scheduling, and on-site training for security officers

* Ensure that contract-required training and screening elements for security personnel have been met

* Maintain overtime to a preset requirement designated by G4S

* Ensure quality of service and contract compliance by regularly inspecting and auditing each facility assigned to his/her area

* Participate and make recommendations in selection and placement of security personnel to contracts in his/her area; participate and make recommendations in progressive discipline and conduct performance appraisals of the same

* Evaluate key performance indicators and ensure compliance

* Conduct and/or oversee all training for security personnel reporting to the area/branch office (e.g., state licensing, contract specific, annual refresher courses)

* Determine and prepare appropriate training programs specific to local customer needs and ensure proper inclusion in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) Competency Management function and other training records

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

* Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent

* Must be able to pass any state-required training or other qualifications for licensing

* Must possess a current and valid Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) Security Officer License issued by the State of California

* Must possess a current and valid Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) .38 or .357 Firearms Permit issued by the State of California

* Must possess a current and valid OC Pepper Spray certification issued by the state of California

* Must possess a current and valid Permanent Expandable Baton certification issued by the state of California.

* Must have successfully completed a course in proper handcuffing techniques.

* Must be able to pass a State licensing test if driving a company-owned or client-provided vehicle

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

* If previously employed, meaningful and verifiable work history

* Must have one or more of the following:

* Law enforcement experience (military police or civilian law enforcement)

* Service in elite military forces (e.g. Navy SEALS, Delta Force, etc.) or combat arms

* Graduate of police academy

* Criminal Justice degree, Associates or higher

* Career military

Skills Required

* Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors

* Demonstrated ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public

* Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office

* Effective oral and written communication skills

* Active listening skills

* Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively

* Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately

* Attention to detail


* Must be at least 21 years old or the minimum age required by state, if higher

* Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States

* Must not use illegal drugs. Must be able to pass a drug test with negative results (except when undergoing documented medical treatment).

* Must submit to an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications, and Department of Motor Vehicle and credit checks if applicable

* Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment: Indoor and outdoor, temperature ranges from moderate to extreme cold and heat

Major activity: Walking, standing, speaking, listening, observing

Physical efforts to carry out job duties: Standing, walking, and sitting; minimal to no stooping or kneeling
